Sushi Making

This is my first of making my very own sushi...
And we bought all the ingredients from Jusco...
They have everything so is quite convenience ...

Preparing sushi have kind of lots of work to do...
Firstly, the rice need to be washed and leave it there for 30 minutes...
then have to prepare the vinegar mixture...
After that, only cooked the rice...
When the rice is ready, pour the vinegar mixture into it...
and stir for 10 minutes...

Then, the inner ingredients need to be prepared...
We put fried egg, tuna, cucumber, carrot,
ham, crab sticks, corns, mayonnaise and of course you can put some
other things than this...

The rice is so sticky...
It tends to stick to your hand...
So have to always keep your hand wet when putting the rice on the seaweed...

The sushi tasted not bad...
May be because of the rice that have the vinegar mixture added...
The rice tasted sweet ...
Imagine that we can eat that easily from Sushi King or Sakae Sushi...
and when we have to make it ourselves you will know how
much works behind that...

After trying to do it two or three times,
sushi is actually easy to make...
Since there left some ingredients,
we will make sushi again on next time...
Hopefully can get better result !!!

Almost like KimGary Restaurant...
And we can't find it in Penang...
Apparently, food here is quite reasonable and worth to try...

I like the interior design...
I like the chair, it looks like Kiwi to me...
LoL...

Black glutinous rice...
Pulut hitam...
Very thick and nice yet not to sweet...

The Hong Kong style Porridge...
Lots of ingredients inside...

I like this one the most...
huge and tall ice blended like Ais Kacang...
Except that the one cover on it is Red Bean not sweet syrup...
and there are some cashew nuts on it...
So delicious!!!

The hot and spicy chicken noodles...
This one taste so so only...

Hopefully there will be Food and Tea outlets in Penang soon...
Their food is reasonable and not bad overall...

Yes!! Hardware done~~

After about 2 months working on hardware part of my final year project,
finally it's done!!!
Feeling so relief and i can stop bothering about it,
focus more on the software part...

Last week i tried all my components on breadboard and tested on PCB.
It's not working at all...So sad...
I suspected it is because of not enough power to supply all the PIC, LCD
and RF module...
So, i decided to make another PCB board which only the power slot to
power up all the device...
Again, i tried and it's not working last night...

So, this morning i check again all the circuit which i have checked many times already...
and i found my PCB was drawn wrongly...
Omg...Why am I so careless !!!
And now i only notice that...
Sighz..

After fixing the problem, my hardware is working now...
hehe...
Can enjoy my Christmas for tomorrow without burden...woohoo!!!

My PCB may look a bit ugly and messy...
Any suggestion to improve the outlook?
Please feel free to drop me a message...

There are more work to go...
Keep on going~~

Yummy Layer Kek...

It has been a long time i didn't do baking last few months...
Today suddenly came out with an idea by making layer kek...
Some call it as Kek Lapis Indonesia...

This is not a Nyonya recipe but the exotic taste and
inviting aroma of layer cake is irresistable and one of my favorites.
Making Kek Lapis is a very tedious job but it is worth the
hard work when you see the beautiful layers of the cake.

I use about 3 hours for the baking process...
haha...kinda long...
Each layer needs to be bake for about 10 minutes...
so if there are more layers, more time is needed...
Since I have nothing better to do ...
This one is the best for spending my time...

Ingredients:

240g butter, 150g caster sugar, 120g plain flour,
9 egg yolks, 6 egg whites, 60g, condensed milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla essence.

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 180 degree.
2. Beat soft butter and 60g sugar until light and creamy.
3. Add egg yolk one at a time and beat until combined.
4. Stir in condensed milk and vanilla essence.
5. Sift flour into the egg mixture. Stir until well combined.
6. Whisk egg whites until stiff. Add 90g sugar and beat until sugar dissolved.
7. Fold egg whites into egg mixture. Stir to form batter.
8. Grease rectangular cake tin. Pour in a suitable amount of batter
and bake for 10 minutes.

This is the result... ...

I have modify the recipe slightly by making two kinds of batter.
One is vanilla flavor, another one is chocolate.
The reason why I want to do so is because of I want to make the layer look
more obviously.
I don't understand why the recipe they provide can make such a visible layer...
I can't make it, so i have to do my own way...

Layer cake is a very rich cake with very high contents of eggs and butter.
Therefore, it is usually served in very small pieces.
But mom tasted, she said it's a bit hard...
Omg, hmmp...
temperature too high? or baking time too long...
Sighzz...

Will get another try next time...
